2011:2012 Dodge Charger SRT8

Power for the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 comes from 6.4L HEMI V8 engine making an estimated 465-hp and 465 lb-ft of torque, including an estimated additional 80 lb-ft at 2,900 rpm. That allows the 2012 Charger SRT8 to go from 0-60 mph in the high 4-second range and to run the quarter mile in the high 12-second range. Estimated top speed comes in at 175 mph. Now those numbers might change, but Dodge says it will release the specific horsepower, torque and fuel economy numbers closer to launch date.
The engine is mated a W5A580 5-speed automatic with standard paddle-shifters, the first for a Chrysler Group LLC SRT product. The 2012 Charger SRT8 also features an advanced Fuel Saver (4-cylinder mode) technology with an active valve exhaust system  that allows engagement of a wider rpm range.
The 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 will be produced at the Brampton Assembly plant in Brampton, Ontario, Canada and will go on sale later this year. Prices will be announced closer to launch date.

Is This the Future of the Cameraphone?

Imagine a phone with a camera that's better and a body that's than any other phone currently available. And imagine that instead of a single camera, the module carried an array of 25 micro-cameras. Pelican Imaging promises just that with their camera module, and they think they have what it takes to revolutionize cameraphones.
GigaOM says the secret behind Pelican's technology isn't unlike the HDR feature found on the iPhone. the hardware captures multiple images (or sets of data), and then uses post-processing software to assemble it all into one high-quality photograph. Pelican is less obsessed with cramming more megapixels into the phone, and more interested in finding the best way to pair a sensor with a lens (or lenses, in this case).
Pelican plans to license their technology component manufacturerers and handset makers, similar to what ARM does with their processors. Can't wait to see this pop up in an actual phone.

Al Qaeda Steals Crashed Drone Wreckage

Whoops! A Predator drone cruising over Yemen took a spill, nosediving into a heap inside a small village. Police then secured the debris – sort of. On the way out, their convoy was hijacked by Al Qaeda goons. Debris snatched. It’s not as if Al Qaeda is about to reverse engineer and manufacture their own drones, but the incident underscores Yemen’s own problems with counter-terrorism. Mainly, that they’re piss poor at it.
